I would have my high school students, in my history class, to use a couple different forms of technology. I would assign them a presentation to present to the class. I would have them use the internet to research their topic and also get more ideas about how to narrow their topics down. I would have them use the internet databases to do more research. I would have them use Microsoft Power Point to actually present their topics with. I would have them make a minimum of 10 minutes to present and use many slides, pictures, and effects.

If I was a computer teacher or if I had to supervise my high school students in a computer lab, I would be very concerned that they would be misusing the internet for the wrong reasons and look up things that they aren't supposed to be looking up. Also, I would just be afraid that they would just get off track and surf the internet, get on facebook, or youtube videos.

I think that the Apple Popcorn by Roxio program looks pretty cool. I think that it would be good to use because I could tivo programs or certain things that I think my students should see and then I can transfer to video so that it can be seen in the classroom. I think that it is a great idea to use just in general in one's home as well.

  1. I like how you said that you will incorporate a few differnt types of technology instead of just sticking to one.

  2. Ashlyn,

You brought up very creative ideas to incorporate in your lesson plans. I agree with your concerns over students misusing the internet. However, at my previous high school, the computers in the computer lab had explicit websites and other websites like facebook, myspace, etc. blocked so that students could not access them. I'm sure that took a lot of stress off the supervisors. That apple popcorn does look pretty cool. Good Job!
